I love to decorate for the Fourth of July! I just love to display the red, white and blue! What a beautiful combination! I wanted to keep my mantel very neutral, but set it off with something bold. And I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out!
One of my favorite things about this banner is the simplicity of it! It was so simple to make and super affordable! I bought 3 packs of flags from the Target Dollar Spot for $1 each. Once I was home, I removed the staples from each flag using tweezers. The flags were slightly wrinkled from being packaged, so I ironed each one. I ended up using 7 flags for this banner and added the two remaining among other decor in my home. For the base of the banner I used jute. Jute is one of my favorite materials to use because it's durable and easy to use, plus I have a ton of it! With my heated glue gun, I placed two dots on each side of the flag and pressed onto the jute. Repeat this step for the remainder of flags until complete. That's it! You've got yourself a beautiful, patriotic banner for just a few bucks!!
