Fun Garden Stakes!

I think I might be a little late at getting my veggie planters started, but hey, better late than never! Since I'm a newbie, I decided to start out with just a few to make sure I can get them to grow (and keep them alive!).

I bought two cheap medium sized planters, garden potting soil, and a packet of oregano, leaf lettuce, tomatoes, and bell peppers. I really hope they turn out, because I would totally love picking fresh veggies right out of my backyard! I like the idea of using the planters because they're easier to maintain and you can place them anywhere!

Now, I needed something cute to display the names of each vegetable... I was looking around the house for large Popsicle sticks, but couldn't find any. Then, I remembered I had a stash of wine corks.. I grabbed those and wooden skewers. I wrote, with permanent maker, each veggie, pushed the cork onto the skewer and stuck it into the soil. It looks cute, gives it character and was free (from stuff I already had at home!). Once my plants are in bloom, they will look adorable peeking through!
