DIY-- Burlap Storage Box

Browsing my, slight addiction, Pinterest the other day, I found a DIY tutorial for a burlap storage box. I really liked the look of the box, so I decided to check out her blog! You will never believe what the base of the box is; just that, a cardboard box!

Here's a list of everything you will need:
  • Box, size of your choice
  • Paint or spray paint
  • Glue gun and plenty of glue
  • At least 2 yards of burlap; I probably used a little over a yard, but my box wasn't very big.
  • Ribbon and/or decor or knobs
I needed something cute to put my sons Wii games and remotes in, they were getting out of control! We had a box that fit the length of our media stand, which was the reason I was making this, so I just cut it to fit height wise. Second, I used the hot glue gun to glue all pieces of the cardboard to each other to make it more sturdy. Next, I already had a can of ivory spray paint, so I sprayed the entire box until the markings were no longer visible. Let that dry completely. Next, grab your burlap and begin to wrap your box, leaving at least 3 inches on top and bottom to fold at the end. Once you have an idea of how the fabric will lay on the box, begin to glue the fabric onto the box. The glue will come through the burlap, but continue to press and pull the fabric, ensuring no bubbles. I folded mine to more like a present than the original tutorial shows hers. I glued the folds down to the burlap. Glue any loose pieces of fabric down. You're almost done! Grab your ribbon and cut it the circumference of the box and glue in place. Embellish you box with extra burlap and/or ribbon. You can add a pre-made flower, button, brooch, knob or any other accessory to make it your own! I'm not completely done with mine yet, I still have to find that special "pop" to make it mine! Cute and Easy :)
