Are you looking for a special way to keep your kids entertained, have fun and not spend a lot (if any) money?! I've got the perfect thing for you!!.... Create a list of your own or I will provide some ideas of fun things to do. Get a empty container, mason jar, etc. and fill it with the cut up and folded activities. Each day have your child(ren) chose a piece of paper and fulfill the selected activity. Have fun with it! I can't wait to start this evening :) We are going to make this a family tradition every December!
Here are a few of the activities I chose:
- drive around and look at Christmas lights
- bake cookies
- make and decorate gingerbread houses
- make gingerbread people and decorate
- sing Christmas songs!
- buy and donate Toys for Tots
- wrap presents for family and friends
- go sledding
- write a letter to Santa and take it to Macy's (they donate ten cents for every letter received to Make a wish foundation)
- watch a holiday movie
- check out holiday books at the library
- eat candy canes
- pick a special family ornament for the year
- go see a holiday play (Nutcracker, or in our case this weekend, Annie!)
- go to the dollar store and pick gifts for family
- have a random act of kindness day :)
- prep and freeze a special breakfast for Christmas morning
- do research on holiday traditions around the world (and maybe adopt the tradition to your family!)
- make Reindeer food ( I have an adorable recipe with poem for kids!!) http://domesticsimplicity.com/2009/12/24/magic-reindeer-food/
- make glitter play dough (I have a recipe for this too!) http://thecreativemama.com/how-to-make-glitter-playdough/
