9 Tips for a Breath-Taking Bedroom
With so much choice available from the Internet, décor magazines and television shows it can be hard to find the right style for each bedroom in the home. It is important, where possible, to take into account the personality of the room’s regular occupant – after all, a rather feminine young lady will not take kindly to having a masculine bedroom unveiled to her! What follows are nine suggestions that should provide inspiration or spark creativity in anyone who is struggling to find that perfect bedroom décor idea.

1 Touch of the Orient
Give your bedroom a nod to the exotic, by infusing the room with a lovely ancient Persian feel. Roll out an intricately patterned rug and opt for wallpaper that features complex repeating designs to start off the theme. Introduce small touches of luxury with gold painted accessories and a plethora of gentle lamps that will fill the room with soft and mysterious light and shade. Aim to give the bedroom a gorgeous and sumptuously appointed ambiance, but do take care not to overdo this décor theme in smaller rooms as it can become too ‘busy’ and cramped.

Older sons, brothers and confirmed bachelors would adore a gentleman’s club style bedroom. Infuse the room with warm masculinity by purchasing solid and sturdy wooden furniture (darker wood seems more authentic and old-fashioned) and team this strength with cosy blankets and throws and a generously sized bed. The result will be a room that oozes comfort and yet reeks with machismo.

 3 But Naturally Fresh
A dazzling white and fresh green décor theme is marvellous for exuding the clean comfort while embracing the glories of nature. Choose bedding and curtains that have plants and flowers on them to carry through the Nature theme, and perhaps add an animal print throw to the bed to complete the picture. This naturally fresh look is clean and crisp, yet friendly and accessible for nature lovers of all ages and dispositions.

 4 Colonial Styles
Create a room that smacks of old-fashioned comfort and sturdy strength. Install a four-poster bed with a spacious ottoman at its foot, to infuse a guest room with a kind of bland and neutral charm onto which your visitors can easily put their own stamp. This style also works well for children who are now spending much of their time away from home, working or studying at university, as it allows the room to double as a guest room when they are away.

 5 Intensely Feminine Boudoir
A soft and welcoming bed, an ornate headboard, some exquisite lamps and bedding that glows and shimmers like jewels are prerequisites for creating a sensual haven sure to appeal to the inner sex goddess in all women. Bright colours and flattering light complete the perfect boudoir for ladies of any age.

Dazzling white walls and crisp icy blue bedding create the Snow Queen’s ideal bedroom! The cool look of the room does not mean that you will be anything less than cosy and warm, while the dramatic look sure to impress everyone who sees it.

Invest in some vintage 60s and 70s fabrics to recreate the atmosphere of that time; a throwback to the heady days of hippies and hope. Themed bedroom are usually only considered for children who are passionate about trains, pirates or dinosaurs, but they can work well for adults too, especially those with a whimsical sense of humour. Fabric manufacturers and bedding designers are tapping into this quirky trend by creating bedding features the likes of Marvel characters, Star Wars imagery and many more, in bedding of all sizes. Satisfy your inner child by creating a fabulous themed bedroom in which you can safely adventure to the stars and beyond!
9 Dramatic Geometrics
Create a clean but bold look by placing blocks of bright, clear colour against a pale or neutral background. This look works well in uncluttered rooms and emphasises the spaciousness and order of the room.
