The Fourth Of July is quickly approaching!
How do you celebrate with your family? We celebrate by throwing a bbq with friends and family and maybe a few small fireworks. I'm sure many families celebrate the same way, but it's important that our children also realize why we're celebrating! The birth of the American Independence signed in 1776.
Alright, enough of a history lesson, now onto the "freedom" banner I made for the fourth! I wanted something that wasn't the traditional red, white and blue, but that could easily be paired with those colors. I tend to decorate more neutral with pops of color.
I started by uploading a vintage script background, uploading it to PicMonkey and creating my letters. I printed each onto white cardstock, cut to my desired size and hole-punched each corner. I grabbed burlap ribbon I already had and cut a thin strip (about 1/2 inch width) to use as my thread. I simply weaved it thru each hole until completed. With an extra, oh, yard and a half, two yards or so that I had of the burlap ribbon I created a super simple bow, using the technique below!
I attached the bows to each end of the banner using floral wire.
And there you have it! A beautiful, rustic looking banner for a little to no cost, yippee!!

DeleteHI there Fotini. What a beautiful name to go with a pretty girl. Your kids are so cute. Love pic of all of you.
ReplyDeleteI love your banner. I've been looking at lots of them tonight in many of the blogging parties I've come across. I love using burlap and paper. I've been converted to a burlap user.
I was in HL (hobbylobby) awhile back and the clerk cutting the burlap asked me why so many people are buying burlap. I told her about many of the burlap projects I come across online. HL has an excellent selection of burlap and burlap ribbon. The ribbon is on sale often at 1/2 off, yeahoo. You might know all this already.
I wish I knew how to use things like PicMonkey, I'm afraid I'm quite digitally challenged.
Maybe if I spent time on PicMonkey instead of reading hundreds of blogs every day I'd learn it. Happy Summer
Thanks so much for the kind words! I never used to like burlap but now I incorporate in most of my projects! And I agree, I love Hobby Lobby's fabric selection! I hope to see you back again soon :)
